This includes consultation with clients to provide beauty advice, recommend beauty treatments and services, and sell retail skin-care and cosmetic products. Work is typically undertaken in beauty salons and spas.

IPL & LASER for Skin Rejuvenation

This is an entry level course that offers participants a pathway into the IPL and Laser industry, specialising in skin rejuvenation treatments. In this fast growing and incredibly competitive industry it is essential to be up to date with industry standards and be able to offer safe and effective treatments to your clients. This course is recommended for participants who have a background in beauty services who are currently working in the industry and wish to improve their skills and knowledge. Upon successful completion of this course you may be eligible to enrol into the 10038NAT Graduate Certificate of cosmetic laser and light therapies.

Participants who are not currently working in beauty services are eligible to enrol into this course and are required to complete the following prerequisites prior to course commencement:

  • Laser safety for cosmetic laser and light therapies No ED186 (online)
  • Foundation skills dermal science (distance learning)

You will learn:

  • Analysing skin conditions
  • Designing and reviewing IPL and laser treatment programs for pigmented and vascular lesions, skin rejuvenation and acne
  • Consultation techniques
  • Unit 11 Manicure & Pedicure
  • Performing and assessing test patch
  • Delivering safe and effective treatments
  • Selecting and using laser / IPL technology
  • Documentation requirements
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements

Chemical Skin Peels

This course deals with the theory and practical knowledge required to perform this skin resurfacing treatment.

Chemical skin peeling is a popular skin rejuvenation procedure that is in demand in many clinics. This course will enable you to make an educated judgment on what peels to perform on various skin conditions. Having the knowledge and using chemical skin peels confidently is a great asset for any skin care therapist to have.

Participants who are not currently working in beauty services are eligible to enrol into this course and are required to complete the following prerequisites prior to course commencement:

  • Foundation skills dermal science (distance learning)

You will learn:

  • History of Chemical Skin Peels
  • Difference between Chemicals used for Skin Peeling
  • Consultation techniques
  • Pain management protocols
  • Treatment of acne, pigmentation and premature aging skin conditions
  • Wound healing response
  • Pre and post treatment advice

Entry Requirement for Overseas Students

  • Meet evidentiary requirements for country of origin
  • Have an IELTS score of 5.5 or above or undertake an English Language test prior to enrolment TOEFL 527; TOEFLiBT46; CAE162; PTE42 or
  • OET pass mark or 5 years study in Australia, Canada New Zealand; South Africa or
  • Republic of Ireland or Passport holders for UK, USA, Canada, Republic of Ireland or Senior Secondary Certificate in Australia.
  • Undertake a pre-enrolment interview / initial skills assessment.
