These days it seems like anyone with a tattoo needle or a hot laser gun can call themselves a therapist and perform procedures (whether they be good, bad or ugly) on unsuspecting clients.
So how do you upgrade your skills and attain professional qualifications that position you ahead of the pack and guarantee your clients can relax and enjoy high quality, results driven treatments?
Sydney Beauty & Dermal Institute (SBDI) has been dedicated to training the highest professional standards of beauty therapy for 30 years. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and internationally registered with the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC), we are known in the industry as a institute which sets the benchmark in quality standards and has a passion for producing highly qualified beauty professionals.
A smorgasbord of success
Combining a variety of updated treatment options within any salon ensures optimum benefits, both for the client and the salon itself. SBDI offers post-graduate qualifications to cover what’s hot right now in the beauty industry, including microdermabrasion, cosmetic tattooing and electrolysis to name a few.
Although a Diploma in Beauty Therapy or Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy is preferred for participants of our post-graduate courses, it is possible for participants without a beauty therapy or medical background to take part by completing some additional prerequisite units.
Microdermabrasion is a popular skin rejuvenation procedure that is in demand in many clinics. SBDI will give you the skills to perform this treatment effectively and to use technology in your salon to its full potential. Microdermabrasion is a great asset for any skin care therapist to have.
Cosmetic tattooing, also called permanent make up or micro pigmentation, is another increasingly popular cosmetic procedure. This course provides the theory and practical knowledge required to perform micro pigmentation treatments that induce placement of eyebrow, eyeliner and lip lines, using a variety of equipment and pigments.
Electrolysis is a specialised service which can be used to support IPL/laser hair reduction or can be offered as a stand alone service to meet the needs of clients who are looking for a hair reduction treatment.
An approved delegate of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), SBDI provides all of our learners with industry specific training and realistic hands-on practical scenarios, delivered by Trainers and Assessors with many years of industry knowledge and experience. Our training is continually evolving to accommodate industry requirements and individual learning needs.
We have also developed and registered courses with ASQA so therapists can update their skills and access accredited training in Intense Pulsed Light for Hair Reduction and Skin Rejuvenation and Tattoo Removal.
At SBDI, we work closely with all of our Learners to guarantee success. We provide a variety of delivery modes and training sessions to our learners in small groups. Within our theory classes, Learners are taught face to face by a Trainer and learn from each other via student and multimedia presentations.
In our practical classes, Learners are offered step-by-step, hands-on experience by practicing on each other. Once confident, Learners are given the opportunity to practice their skills on actual clients and gain further experience in our training clinic.
SBDI offers continuous enrolment throughout the year (see commencement dates on our website). This offers convenience and flexibility for all of our prospective Learners to fit in with your busy lifestyles.
Another benefit to the SBDI flexible Learning mode, is that all our Learners are at different levels. This gives more experienced Learners the chance to help new Learners and brush up on their existing skills and techniques. Work placement a valuable component to each course enabling all Learners to gain experience in a real life salon environment preparing them for work and becoming industry ready.
